I've been using MPE successfully for years with my Samsung S9. I sync my calendar & task list hourly between phone & Outlook (both directions).

For a long time I have had my hourly sync run twice each time, so that the following would happen:

1) a repeating task is marked complete on my phone
2) during the first sync, the Outlook instance of the repeating task is marked complete
3) Outlook creates the next occurrence of the task
4) during the second sync, the next occurrence gets sent to the phone

-----------------------------------
With the new version, the additional bolded items appear to be happening:

1) a repeating task is marked complete on my phone

1A) MPE creates the next occurrence of the task in the phone, which may not have the correct recurrence pattern, see below *

2) during the first sync, the [original] Outlook instance of the repeating task is marked complete

2A) MPE’s next occurrence of the task ALSO gets sent to Outlook, creating an almost-duplicate task in Outlook, see below **

3) Outlook creates the next occurrence of the original task
4) during the second sync, the next occurrence of the original task ALSO gets sent to the phone

I am ending up with:

• Two instances of the task on my phone, ex DINNER – *one of which repeats daily, the other repeats weekly
• Two instances of the task in the program – one at 7:45 am which has the correct daily recurrence, one at 7:46 am which is weekly
• Two instances of the task in Outlook – ** which look almost identical, and both SAY they have the same recurrence pattern (“Due today. Due every day effective MM/DD/YY” and they have the same date). BUT one has the “recurring” icon and the toolbar button for “skip occurrence”, and one just has the checkmark icon and only shows the “recurrence” toolbar button. If I click that button, I get the recurrence dialog box WITH the correct daily recurrence pattern, and the “Remove Recurrence” button is available, i.e. NOT greyed out.

Yesterday I wiped all tasks and events from both the program and the phone, fixed my task list in Outlook, did a fresh sync only from Outlook to phone, then set it back to syncing in both directions. The problem persists. I have duplicate tasks all over my list.

I don't think it is the second sync that causes the problem -- in theory one should be able to sync however many times in a row, and not have this happen.

Please tell me how to either fix this behavior, or how I can revert back to the previous version of the program (which works great! I have been a fan for years).

I know how to uninstall the update from my desktop machine, but I don’t know how to make my phone revert to the previous version of the app.

Thanks in advance --

I can't reproduce the scenarios 1A) and 2A) you described:? Please export some of these tasks and email them to me?!

You can find the relevant MPE client 3.14, which does not yet support repetitive tasks, here => MyPhoneExplorer-Client old versions

Hello again,

I believe I have the previous version back on my phone and desktop machine, and syncs are proceeding as they used to. Thanks very much for your assistance there.

It would still be good to be able to migrate to the new version, if the issue I was having can be figured out.

However if I am the only one in the world seeing this behavior, I probably screwed something up in the update process, or I have some weird setting somewhere.

I am in the (very slow) process of migrating from my old desktop, which cannot run Windows 11, to a new machine, so whenever I get my Outlook transferred over I will probably try again, unless you can figure out what happened before I get there.

Thanks again! Happy 2025 if possible.
