Usage of HDD storage for Database
Usage of HDD storage for Database
Hello,
The default path for database is "C:\Users\user\AppData\Roaming" but I do not have lot of disk space, and this path takes about 53 Gb !
What is your experience about this ? Do you use an additional memory space ? Is it recommended to use an external USB storage disk ?
Thank you for your help.

Thank you for your reply.
53Gb come from external cache from DCIM Camera. I added a 128 Gb memory card, and took a lot of photos...
This path is the default one, I nerver changed it.
But do you think it is a good practice to use a USB external disk for this storage ?

Oh, it seems to be more difficult than I expected !
I moved the folder C:\Users\Windows7\AppData\Roaming\MyPhoneExplorer to T:\ but when opening the app and selecting the new path, I got the message : T:\MyPhoneExplorer already exists. Do you want to overwrite the existing Database?
What is the procedure please ?
Thank you

First you should enable the setting "Delete file cache on exit", its in the advanced 2 tab of the settings dialog. How you tried to move or copy the data folder? Normally you can do this directly in the settings dialog of MyPhoneExplorer with aclick on the ... Button to right of the datapath location. MyPhoneExplorer does handle then also the movement of the files.

Hi,
Thank you for your answer. But I think something has been broken...
I moved the files manually, with windows explorer.
An now when I open MyPhoneExplorer, and try to connect to my phone, only one device is displayed, instead of some others that were used before.
What can I do to recover a safe install and apply the procedure you describe ?
Thx

MyPhoneExplorer 2.0
- copy the old datafolder with several userfolders in it to the desktop
- uninstall MyPhoneExplorer, select YES when you get asked to delete the userdata
- install MyPhoneExplorer again
- copy the backupped userprofiles and the general.ini back to C:\Users\Windows7\AppData\Roaming\MyPhoneExplorer
- launch MyPhoneExplorer, you should see all profiles are visible again
- now move your database path with the "..." button in the settings of MyPhoneExplorer and NOT yourself throught Windows Explorer
