I need to touch the MPE icon on my phone twice to launch

It didn't used to be this way, but since I updated to the nightly on 12 december 2022 (or around then) this issue has begun.

There does not appear to be a new version in the play store to try.

Normal bahavior is this way:
First touch opens MPE in the background, You will see only the icon in the status line on top of the phones display.
Second touch than opens MPE window for access all settings and options.

Thank you for clarifying. That matches what i am seeing. I do not recall needing to touch the icon twice to open the app previously, which is why I posted, but this explains the functionality, so I'm all good.

The following would be possible:
Before Android 8, the client was started automatically in the background when the WLAN was detected, so that the MPE client was opened the next time it was called immediately
