MPE can not identify my P910i

Beitrag von algazer »

I have been trying, unsuccessfully, to use this nice software with my P910i before switching to the new P990i.
I have it connected to the PC via USB original craddle.
Tried with 1.6.0 version but did not work.
Today tried updating to 1.6.2 but did not work either.
I have Windows XP-SP2 in my PC and the phone runs with the original software it came with.
Every time I try to connect it gives me an Error Message "phone could not be identified"
Basically what I am trying to do is to save my SMS inbox where I have very important messages that do not want to loose.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Below I pasted the looooong logfile after several attempts.

You can read at my homepage: MyPhoneExplorer is not compatible with Symbian-Phones

But if you want only to save your messages it could work if you configure your phone as modem. But don't ask me how this works - i know it only from other users

Thank you FJ for the quick reply. It explains everything. I did not know my mobile was a Symbian OS. In fact I did not know what a symbian phone was.
Do you plan to make your software compatible with Symbian phones in the future?
Anyone out there knows how to retrieve and save the messages in the inbox to a PC doing what FJ suggests below of configuring the phone as modem or other alternative?
Thanks again!

FJ doesn't plan support for symbian phones like you can read in other threads in this forum. It's too complex, too much work.
FJ mentioned another program, which works with symbian phones, I think it was called "Oxygen Phone Manager".
But I don't know what you can do with this software, don't know what is supported...

But maybe you'll have a look.
