K610i fails to sync with MPE 1.6.1

Phone - K610i
Connection - USB
MPE - 1.6.1
OS - XP2 SP2

General Symptoms - Sync takes a long time and then fails.

Specific Symptom - Syncing contacts only retrieves 43 out of 59 contacts. Transfer dialog shows 7.99KB transferred at this point. After some time the sync progress disappears and MPE shows the 43 contacts that transferred. The phone still displays the Synchronising image. Further attempts to sync MPE fail with "OBEX Protocol could not be initialized! OBEX Error:". Cancelling synchronising on phone doesn't fix anything, get same OBEX error. Have to cycle power on phone to allow any sync to start again.

I can provide the log file if required.

Its a known bug in many K610/K800.

Solution:
Rebuild your contact-database. Go into the contacts in your phone, choose Options->Advanced->Backup to M.S. . After you did this choose Restore from M.S. . Then restart your phone and everything should work fine.
