for Bill Irwin the conclusion in english:

you have to start MPE client manually once after installation. After that, it will be reachable all time from Windows PC by the some Push Code. So it should work for you. Manual start of MPE client is lno longer necessary.
This means, that latest version of MPC client on Android should work perfectly for you.

@wtuppa

What a difference a good night's sleep can make! My system is now working just as you describe. It was not working last night, as the error message I gave shows. Perhaps the reboot of my PC (which I do at the end of every day) did something.

I have two WiFi networks at home. The main one (RJ5G) is the landlord's router to which I connect my bridge. I connect my router into the bridge to create a private network for me (ILAN), to which my phone and PC connect.

When I connect the phone to RJ5G, then start PC MPE, the MPE client starts but no connection. When I close MPE and switch phone to ILAN and run Windows MPE the client starts again and connects and syncs.

I would love to know what mechanism triggers MPE to start on my phone when it's connected to a different network than my PC. Is this the "push" function that was mentioned?

I will watch closely today to see if things work as expected. I have turned off the Tasker routine to start MPE and see if Windows MPE can start it, connect and sync as needed. If so, that's perfect!

Thank you for your help in getting me away from 1.0.47.

the "push" only works directly, if the PC and the mobile phone are in the same network (probably some IP broadcast). If they are in different network, you may succeed if you set the IP of the phone in the connection dialog of MPE.
