First, I must say. Phenomenal piece of soft. Period.
Now, to the bug report and feature improvement suggestions (F.I.S.)...
New search highlight feature in 1.6.1 is great , but doesn't work as it should. There are few problems, and I got to notice them, since I use this feature a lot.
1) If one wants to search for contact named Martina and has Marta in phone book too, after typing "MARTI" and pressing <RETURN> Marta contact will be opened. So, obviously, search algorithm is disregarding last character typed, although it is highlighting it!
And now F.I.S.
2) I believe that highlight should reset after for instance 2 seconds, and allow for new search. This way, one wouldn't have to press backspace few times just to begin new search.
3) Usual search highlight color is blue, not white. This is just a cosmetic suggestion.
I hope that I've helped to make a great program even greater.
[Bug report] Phonebook searching and highlighting
I fixed the bug with Marta, but i am not able to make a reset after 2 seconds. The feature is inbuild in the grid-control. In the last versions i made it on my own with timneout but on this way it was not possible to highlight the text. Would it be better if i make it like before and i show the typed text in the statusbar ?
BTW, Marta is my wife's name. Great that you've fixed "Marta bug". 
IMO, it's better like you suggest (no highlighting + typed text in statusbar), if timeout will be possible. Present searching is a bit awkward for second and any subsequent search, since one has to "backspace" a lot...
Maybe you could make search to reset after one presses 'Esc' key and leave things as they are? That way, 2-sec resetting wouldn't be mandatory. Could be that Esc will be even better...
If you're Total Commander user, check out 'Quick search' feature in 'Letters - with search dialog' mode. That might inspire you. That is something that you've described in your suggestion and could give you a guideline how to implement it.
It's your call. As I can see from using MPE, you won't choose wrong...
