I have been using MPE since late 2014 with a Samsung G4 mini + CyanogenMod and overall have been very pleased with this software.
Lately, I changed smartphone and got myself a Xiaomi Mi5s running MIUI 8.2 by xiaomi.eu 6.12.29 Developer (Multi) in Italian. I am about to migrate/upgrade to Android 7.1.x
PC: fresh install of Windows 10 Home 64bit and MPE ver 1.8.8
Smartphone: MPE ver 1.0.41
I have few issues I am unable to solve and need help. I find myself in a situation where most of the time MPE crashes or gives me problems and am sure it does not come from Windows OS. It could be a mix of MPE and MIUI.
Please if anyone can help I would be grateful because if I have to keep running this app this way I must switch to a MPE alternative and I DO NOT WISH TO DO SO because I love this software very much.
Here I list what is happening:
1. MPE Desktop hangs or crashes when syncking Phone Call Log
Anytime MPE reaches "Phone Call Log" synchronization, according to Multi-sync settings, MPE crashes. I had to disable this entry from Multi-sync in order to prevent MPE from crashing and this way MPE can safely run without any crash. When consulting MPE Desktop log I simply find that log ends with a random phone number, just the one before MPE crashed.
2. MPE Desktop and Client lost connection
With MPE Desktop running and set to connect via WiFi to client, as soon as I step in my office and MPE client start running connection is established between the two and Multi-sync process starts succesfully. After few minutes my phone display turns off and soon after MPE Desktop becomes disconnected even if MPE Client status is "connected" and I can ping my smartphone from my PC.
If I try to manually connect from MPE Desktop and I get this error:
"Unable to connect to the device. It was not possible to identify the phone".
So, in order to solve this issue I have to exit from MPE Client and soon after when I run MPE Client again it connects automatically to MPE Desktop.
- Please note that I disabled "go in standby mode with an active connection" meaning that it forces to keep the connection alive.
- Please also note that I granted MPE Client all security permissions on the phone (just like I did for WhatsApp, Facebook...) and allowed it to self-start.
Here is a short section of MPE Desktop log when it loses connection:
