Automatically syncing

Hi,
just got this and it all looks good.
I have MPE starting with windows and I had my phone connecting when it found the wifi.
However, as I only turn my computer on when I get home, I had some issues with a backup process that runs at startup and locking Outlook.

So, I changed my startup method on the phone to run MPE on the phone when it was docked.
That gave the laptop time to free up any locks.

The problem now is that the windows side is sat there, minimised and not connecting.
I can right-click on connect and it bursts into life and syncs just fine.

If I leave it alone, will it eventually detect my phone?

I thought I was getting somewhere with this, but it keeps syncing when my phone connects to my wifi network, even though I've unchecked every wifi connection available.

I've even set it to only connect with bluetooth, which is never on, but it keeps connecting by itself.

I only want the client to start up when I want it to; and that is when it docks.
