MEP does not work after Windows 10 updation
I am having same Bluetooth issue and Bluetooth alone....weird. I did the Win 10 upgrade from 8.1. MPE works great but I get a connection error with Bluetooth (and it is paired with the computer) "cannot open port" yet it is the port that is used for phone-computer pair/connection. The USB works fine to sync so I am thankful for that but it was so very convenient not to have to carry/have a cable to sync. Any help is appreciated. Thank you!!
Windows 10 problem
Brilliant app that worked perfectly with Windows 8.1. Since upgrading to Windows 10 get following:
Open app - OK
Connect via USB - OK
Run 'sync' for Calendar - Sync box flashes on screen and disappears immediately. Phone version of Calendar/Tasks still showing on PC screen but nothing is updated - used to get list of new/deleted/changed items so I could choose what to do with each.
Exact same problem with Contacts, Messages etc.
Have uninstalled and reinstalled both PC program and Android client but still same problem!
Using Thunderbird as email/calendar program
Any suggestions?

Already tried that
Checked settings in MPE on PC & phone, all check out as prior tò upgrade...is there any support options other than the forum???
I'm not aware of any other support options.
That said, there are 2 critical settings in the phone client.
They are: Calendars to sync and Add new events to.
To access them -
start client on phone
from the app drawer press MyPhoneExplorer Client
press Settings
You'll see the client configuration options.

I hate to repeat this but did you read the forum?
There is a solution for the Win10/BT problem but it involves upgrading to the newest nightly version of the MPE.
None of you guys mentions that besides from upgrading Windows the MPE was updated. Also, after upgrading everything the pairing between phone and computer has to be deleted and done completely new.
Now give us facts!
State the version of the MPE on the computer and on the phone and we might figure out what´s the problem.

The latest released PC version (1.8.6) shown on the main page is over a year old. The current version of the MPE Client is 1.0.37. A newer version is not available in the Android Store. I checked for both when upgrading to Windows 10 Pro.
Sorry, but nightly beta/test, non-production software is not a reasonable solution. It is never allowed on mission critical company devices!
It is a safe assumption that the current version of software is being discussed unless an older version is specifically mentioned.

Well, that´s why we say read the forum!
FJ releases nightly builds which are only to be downloaded when told to, to solve existing problems.
If you don´t wanna go with the nightly build that´s fine but then stop bothering us with a problem we presented the solution for already.
And for your safe assumptions, we´ve just proven you wrong, regading to this forum.

What part of a Released Version requirement do you not understand?
In the US and most other countries where I've done business, software that is not officially released is considered test software suitable for use in a test environment only. If auditors found unapproved software on a device the user would face on the spot mandatory termination.
When will the version of MPE with a Bluetooth fix be released?

Well, if you stop shouting around and listen.
The MPE nightly version is to be considered officially released if you´re told to install it to solve a concret problem on your device. If you can´t accept that there is nothing else for you to do but to wait. How long? Nobody but FJ himself can tell.
And don´t get cute with me and speak about unapproved software.
The MPE is free software done by a private person in his free time and nothing you paid for. Therefore you´re completely responsible yourself for installing and using it. And before you start shouting again, just where did you read that the MPE guarantees full Win10 support? So, take the provided solution or leave it.

If the version you say is good, why isn't it listed on the main page? Perhaps it has not been fully tested and qualified for release. Obviously you are not familiar with Common Criteria iso/iec 15408 computer security requirements or you would not suggest what you did.
As MPE software stands now, we can't use it. We are actively looking for another solution that does not require Google or other insecure cloud services. We do not have wifi deployed. It is disabled on all company devices. Bluetooth and/or cellular LTE is the only practical way for a Windows Outlook tablet to communicate with an Android cellular device.
I know that MPE is user supported freeware. We have made more than one contribution over the years. MPE is a very useful product and I'm sorry to see it fade away.
That is all.

Because in every nightly build version there could still be a glitch and releasing this version to all people would produce more problems. That´s why the nightly version is only to be installed if instructed to do so. The process of going to a nightly version is monitored and if a new problem rises this can be solved on short notice. If thousands of people download this version and have a problem we could never handle the error reports. This strategy works fine since many years now.ua549 hat geschrieben:If the version you say is good, why isn't it listed on the main page?
Absolutely, we never said anything different.ua549 hat geschrieben:Perhaps it has not been fully tested and qualified for release.
I give a damn about this criteria. Using this freeware means that you have to take the risk or not. But you´re not the one making the rules. You wanna play our game, you´re gonna play it our way.ua549 hat geschrieben:Obviously you are not familiar with Common Criteria iso/iec 15408 computer security requirements or you would not suggest what you did.
If so, why still whining about it? On the other hand you should ask yourself if it was really clever to update to Win10 without knowing all the consequences coming with that.ua549 hat geschrieben:As MPE software stands now, we can't use it.
The only one seeing the MPE fading away is you. We others see that FJ has solved the problem and still is working to improve the MPE.ua549 hat geschrieben:MPE is a very useful product and I'm sorry to see it fade away.
The conclusion: the BT problem with Win10 has been solved. Who want´s to use that in the way it is provided now may do so. All the others have to wait until a new realease with a new version number comes out.
