MPE has lost contacts but Phone & Outlook OK

When I started a multisync the other day, MPE requests syncing several hundred contacts -which are already in Outlook & on the phone (LG G2). I'm syncing "Phone"-only -ie; no Google or Skype contacts -with Outlook. Upon further checking, the contacts appear to be gone from MPE -so that's apparently why. However, I don't know why they are gone. I don't want to end up with duplicate contacts in Outlook & on the phone.

Can you explain what has happened & suggest best option for sync'ing Contacts at this point?

Try the "Blue Arrow" before you start the sync.
That will draw the contacts from the phone into the MPE and give way to a proper sync.

Thanks -Yes -that solved the problem -just ended up with a few duplicates. I was just concerned about having hundreds of duplicates.

Do you have any idea why MPE lost the contacts and how I can avoid this in the future?
