Mobile Compatablity List

I am going to get a new mobile and current use a K800i which i intend to upgrade soon.
Is there a list of SE mobiles that will work with myPhoneExplorer?

- X1 /XPeria) does NOT work
- old Smartphones (P800i, P900i, P910i) does NOT work
- for the rest: Check out the supportsite from SonyEricsson. If you can download the PC-Suite for your Model then its also compatible with MyPhoneExplorer

I have made the mistake of purchasing a SE W150a (aka Yendo / Yizo) without checking the available sync software. The phone's cost was very convenient and I expected something acceptable from SE.

Grave mistake, the SE PC-Companion is utterly useless, infinitely worse than Motorola's Phone tools and that's saying something.

So I searched around, found, downloaded and installed mPE (XP Pro SP3) but I cannot get it to connect to my phone via USB.

For a connection via USB you need the drivers installed to your PC.

Do you have them already?

When I connect my W150a to my PC via USB and select 'mass storage' on the screen, XP detects both the phone and the 1Gb card it has and I can see them in Explorer as 'Phone' (5Mb) and 'Removable Disk' (1Gb).

The properties tab declares the driver as usbstor.sys.

But methinks this is not the one you are referring to ...

... does not list the W150/W150a/i, so I guess that the above statement
related to SE-PC Companion does not hold true.

A question to the forum members then:

Any suggestions as to what I can use instead of the (useless) SE-PC Companion? I'm at a loss here.

Do NOT select "Mass Storage" on your phone. Choose "Phone mode" or "Sync mode". If everything is OK then you should get at least two entries in your devicemanager in the node "Modems" -> these COM Ports can be used from MPE.
