I have a Nexus 4, USB connection, MPE Version 1.8.5, Windows XP SP3+ and Google Android 4.4.2.
When I sync Outlook 2007 with MPE I seem to get different results every time. It constantly wants to delete items on one side or the other and then replace them again as though it has found changes which in fact do not exist.
My settings are to sync both and only sync Outlook 2007 with MPE and on the phone it is using the standard Android Google Calendar.
If I abort the sync, select sync again I will get a new and different list of items to sync ! Nothing has changed...
I find this strange and disconcerting. Been using MPE for years now on two different android phones and never had this happen in the past once I got the sync settings right.
Any ideas or suggestions welcome as I would like to get consistent behaviour. You know, add something on the phone and sync it to Outlook and add something to Outlook and sync it to the phone without seeing all this other unchanged stuff all the time. |

Please install the latest beta of the client on the phone: www.fjsoft.at/mpeclient.apk
And also the latest beta of the PC app on PC: http://www.fjsoft.at/files/MyPhoneExplorer_DebugUpdate.exe
There were several issues with the current Google-Sync routine which cause a strange behaviour. Please also reprot if the issues have been fixed in the betas |

Thanks very much for the advice. I installed the new .apk client on the phone and the beta MPE 1.8.5 on my PC. So far I have done the following:
- Organizer - Calendar sync. This resulted in two items being displayed. One to modify an existing entry on both sides that was unchanged. The second to modify a annual entry which has not changed in years.
I would consider both of these actions unnecessary but I went ahead and did the sync. A subsequent attempt showed no further items. This is an improvement as before it seemed to constantly be finding things to change.
I then:
- modified a single entry in Outlook and performed a Organizer - Calendar sync. MPE correctly identified the item to update howeve it once again found the same annual recurring item as the first attempt and wanted to use the phone entry to modify Outlook. Again, this item has not changed in years so no need. In fact the one it wants to modify is an annual birthday reminder and this particular entry is from 1999! I aborted this attempt.
I then:
- performed another Organizer - Calendar sync and the result was exactly the same as the previous attempt. This is an improvement because before it was constantly finding random entries to delete or modify from one side to the other.
Not sure if this information helps and if you would like me to run another test I will be happy to do so. In the meantime I think these new versions have improved the random sync items quite a bit. Thank you!
I suspect Google calendar's method of deleting or modifying entries that are past or expired is part of this problem. |

Early days but so far this has fixed my duplication issue (http://www.fjsoft.at/forum/viewtopic.php?t=21785), it removed the existing duplications and multiple syncs haven't bought them back.
Note that whatever this fix is its not yet listed in the changes file that came up after installation.
Thanks

@arsegon:
Yes, Google is a common source of this kind of Problems. Please let this items which seems to be unchanged overwrite in the phone. If the same item will appear again and again then we can try to find the field which is changed after sync on the phone throught Google.
@dbareis: Many thanks for the feedback |

It would be good if the log and confirmation panel could show the reason the app has decided a sync is required as it would frequently show identical information on both sides.
As well as the duplication the app no longer tries to sync calendar items that haven't changed. That hasn't happened in a very long time.
Thanks

Thank you FJ for your kind help. Following your advice here for almost a week now and after allowing the synch tool to overwrite these problem items just once using these new versions the issue seems to have cleared up. I have synced a few times after changes to Outlook, the Nexus 4 and also to both to see what would happen and I am getting the expected results.
This morning I received an app upgrade notice for the phone so I moved from 1.0.28 beta 9 to version 1.29. I am assuming the changes in the beta are included in 1.29 so I went ahead. Seems to be OK after one sync.
Many thanks for this excellent tool. |
