I am having the same problems with recurring events endlessly repeating.
My events have been created with "ends after xx times".

I have been able to make it work now.
Not quite sure how, but it involved lots of re-installations and different approaches when first connecting to the phone (using/not using recommended first sync, altering/not altering sync rules before first sync, not syncing before having restarted ...

Sorry, could you explain what you mean by that? WIPE action?

Also, the phone does not run on any special rom. It uses the native non-rooted Android 2.3.4 provided by the carrier. I have not installed any custom rom.

And the phone's calendar app was wiped clean and verified empty before attempting ...
