I appreciate the reply. I'm tempted to upgrade to gingerbread, but am pretty happy with the speed and battery life I'm getting from the custom 2.2 ROMs over on XDA.

We are still without an 'official' gingerbread release for At&t in the U.S. Sigh.

I have not been able to reproduce the 19 second "check entry" phenomenon (thankfully).

I’ve been trying to perform an initial sync of my contacts and appointments using MPE 1.8.1 over USB for the past 2 days. I’ve commented in a few other threads about this, so here is a recap and my eventual workaround. I hope that this detailed recap of my steps can help FJ’s development effort ...

So I'm about 75% through (after starting this morning) syncing my 1,800 contacts.

I'm now at a point where after every new entry I get the message: "Connection to phone not possible"

It is taking about 20 seconds to create new entries. I will send along my log file once this is done...

Any help ...

Did you get USB-debugging working? It sounds like you figured to touch the menu button on the home screen, select 'Settings' (also available in the program list). Then select 'Applications', then 'Development' and check the "USB debugging" option.

I'm setting up my new Captivate, and contact creation has taken between 1 second and 25 seconds.

I have 1,800 contacts so this is taking some time! In contrast, creating Appointments takes less than 1 second.

At the top of my wishlist would be to make this process faster. But I do not know if ...
