i synced my entire phonebook and SIM contacts. and then clicked download entire. where can i see this downloaded file? and is there a way to put these on my second SE handset?

You see them in Contacts-Phone and Contacts-SIM
If you want to restore the contacts on another handset then use Extras-Create backup and Extras-Restore backup
