a lot of recent stuff has disappeared? If I did a sync before doing this, where did all that recent data go? Why were the notes not ported and why have all of the texts disappeared? Any help would be greatly appreciated

- which data you are missing ?
- did they disappear after reinstallation or after a sync ?

text messages are gone but then I might have screwed that up. Some recently updated phonebook stuff and some recent notes.

To repeat, I synced first and then replaced the software. So after syncing and after reinstalling the software. It then wiped out my historical text messages. I do have an archived copy which goes up until recently but I do not know how to restor it. Were the original ones not backed up somewhere anyway? Are they in a file and can they be retrieved?

For phonebook and notes: Press the second button in the toolbar "Doanload entire"

For the messages:
MPE just reads out the messages from phone - the button is called "Refresh view" and not "Sync". In the latest version MyPhoneExplorer is able to autocopy messages into archive which were deleted on phone before the sync. Maybe you did disable this feature.

Which archive-copy do you have ? A copy of the userdata-folder ?

It appears to be an auto-archived copy. How do I restore it to the inbox and then sync it back to the phone?
A bit confused. Second button on the tool bar is View or am I misreading what you are talking about.

If it was an auto-archived copy then you'll see those messages in the SMS-Archive of MPE. Is this the case ?

The second button in the toolbar of messages is "Copy to archive".
Again: In Phonebook and organizer the data will be synced. In the SMS-List they get only downloaded.

Yes that is where I see them but is there anyway of transferring these back on to the phone via MPE? In other word can I upload these via MPE back to the phone?

Also in Phone book and notes, why is it that some data was lost even though I synced before re-installing to software? Is the data hidden somewhere in a file that I can access?

Select the messages in archive->rightclick->Upload to phone

Cause phonebook and notes: I don't think that something was lost during reinstall. But i also do not understand your problem. If you download the entire content from phone (as i said: second button in toolbar) then MyPhoneExplorer will download a fresh copy of the phone.
