Bluetooth not being found in MPE but devices are linked

I am on a K750i. I used MPE a couple of years ago and it worked fine. I have two PCs and a netbook here and I can link the phone and PCs no worries. They ask for password and say they are connected. I fire up MPE and ask it to connect and it cannot find the phone. On all three computers. MPE 1.7.4 to XP. Two computers are on XP SP3 and one is SP2. The notebook has internal bluetooth and the PCs are on a bluetooth key. I don't recall it being a problem to set up before. Any ideas?
I had a look through the FAQ and followed anything I could see that seemed relevant but no luck. As my newer phone has died and I'm back on the K750 I'd really like to back up the phone numbers before another thing goes wrong and I lose 500 numbers . . .
Cheers

Which Bluetooth-Stacks are installed on the PCs ? (Windows Stack, WIDCOMM, Bluesoleil, Toshiba,... ? )

The netbook is a Toshiba NB100 but I have reformatted it and it is not running the normal Toshiba software, it is a fresh install with a minimal XP SP3 install and connection is through Windows BT connection. That netbook used to get to MPE on port 40.

Another PC is using Bluesoleil (this the older PC running SP2) but that was able to connect years ago via Bluesoleil. It has not been re-configured.

The one I am running from now here at the moment is a brand new quad core AMD with a new (admittedly cheap) BT key and connects via Windows stack. So there's a few combinations there which is why I find it weird.

On all 3 I can ask the phone to talk to the computer and they connect. They ask for passwords and seem happy. And on all 3 computers I can see the other computers and other bluetooth devices such as earsets and other people around me.

Seems to me that I cannot define the correct port within MPE? Or not the correct port within Windows.

For the PC with BlueSoleil: Run BlueSoleil and init the service "Serial connection" for your phone. If the serial connection is etablished then you'll get a information above tray similar "Device xyz is no connected on COMxxx". Then set this port in MPE and connect.

For the Windows-Bluetooth-Stacks: The Windows-Stack is from time to time very unstable... but mostly the following procedure fixes the problem:
- select your phone in the bluetooth-panel
- go to "Properties"
- go to "Services"
- the Windows-Stack will now refresh the supported services from phone and it shows you also the used COM-Ports
- now try to connect

If this not works then:
- delete the PC from "Own devices" in the phone
- delete the phone in the Bluetooth-List of the PC
- search for a new phone and make a new pairing
- try again to connect with MPE

The windows method did not work even when I deleted all the connections and started again.

The BlueSoleil trick did though, I'd prefer it on this PC and my BlueSoleil discs are 500km away from my at the moment but I guess that software is available somewhere on the net.

Thanks for that FJ. Once I'm back up and running properly and once I have some consistent work a donation is on your way. Appreciate your time.

Cheers

If you want i can take a look at your PCs with a Helpdesk-Tool. In this case contact me via ICQ or Skype-Chat

Thanks, but I'm in Australia so time differences would make that difficult. Both my HTC and the K750 are on the way out so while it seems to be working OK that'll be fine. I reckon I'll buy a new phone in a month or so. Sort of liking the look of Goggle's Nexus. Don't want Iphone as you can't change batteries. Stoopid. So this is a temporary thing. Just wanted those numbers on a PC and safe.

Cheers
