I have a few requests for future enhancements and bug fixes:]
1) Bug
The ampersand (&) in a name seems to be mishandled. For example the name Jack & Jill Smith is imported as
First Name: Jack
Last Name: & Jill Smith
2) Request
Would it be possible in 'File...Settings...Sync...Outlook 2007...Settings for Outlook' to add the ability to specify a Category for the selection of a contact.
I have several hundred contacts in Outlook, but only want about 60 synced with my phone. At present I have to keep two contact folders (Contacts and Cellphone). The problem is keeping the two folders synced within Outlook.
It would be much easier and more accurate if I could only use one folder (Contacts) and be able to specify to MyPhoneExplorer to import only those with a category of 'Cellphone'.
3.) Request
Presently, I have to go to 'File...Settings...Sync' to select whether I want Contacts/Calendar synced to Outlook or the Phone. I think it would be an improvement to move the selection process to both the Contacts window and the Organizer...Calendar window. Leave your sync icon as it is, but add a dropdown selection (combobox) with the following:
In the Calendar window:
Outlook -> MyPhoneExplorer
Outlook <- MyPhoneExplorer
MyPhoneExplorer -> Phone
MyPhoneExplorer <- Phone
In the Contacts window:
Outlook -> MyPhoneExplorer
Outlook <- MyPhoneExplorer
MyPhoneExplorer -> Phone
MyPhoneExplorer <- Phone |

OK. Here's how I do it as I have sort of the same problem in that my *Contacts* kept within Outlook are synced both with my phone and my wife's. However she does not want the motorcycle and car dealers that I have plus some of my friends. Within Outlook I have created several sub-folders under the 'Contacts' folder for things such as 'Work', 'Mine', 'NonPhoneContacts', etc (I have 'several' folders as I use Outlook instead of a physical address book). When I sync with MPE I go into 'Settings/Sync/Contacts/Advanced' and select the Outlook folders I want to sync with my phone. With my wife's (actually with Nokia's PC Suite as she has a basic Nokia) I just synch with Contacts. With mine I select several folders.
Seems the easiest way to do things to me and I don't see the problem with keeping my Outlook folders synced as a) contacts are only entered once anyway and b) it's fairly quick to check if a new contact is in any of the folders.
Or am I missing something?
One thing, with each new sub-folder you should right-click and choose Properties and 'Show as an address book' or it doesn't get checked for the email address when sending an email.

@rctaubert:
1) Import from where ? Please note that on Android there is no seperate field for first and lastname so it gets splitted up on the first space.
2) Category-Filter is already included. Click in the settingswindow on "Exceptions"
3) Why you swap the sync-settings ? MyPhoneExplorer gets always synced, even if you select to sync with Outlook. And the priority can be also changed in the sync-confirmation window |
