I want to sync my mobile contact to my gmail. Now I got some contacts with only numbers, and they are not on my gmail.

I also have contact that have the same name, but with emails on gmail and only numbers on the phone.

When I try to sync, force phone to gmail, I get the impression that I can only choose to "keep gmail with email, or replace it with the numbers from the phone" ?

Is that right? How do I merge contacts with the same name?

Merging during sync is not possible.
I would do a normal sync first (uncheck "Use only contacts with phonennumber" in the advanced sync-settings for google before) - then you have many duplicates in phone. In MyPhoneExplorer you can select duplicated contacts and then rightclick->Merge contacts. Then sync again

But how about the same name for the contacts. Is that possible with the duplicates?

And, the normal sync, shall that be in both ways or gmail to phone or phone to gmail?

And, do you mean that I shall sync a lot of contacts from gmail to my phone first, since you said I should untic that option?

I guess about 130 in the phone.
About 170 in gmail.

Some of the contacs are the same, but on gmail they have emails, and in the phone they have number. As I understand it, I have to pick on of them when they have the same name?

If they have different names, I can merge in the program as you said.

If you select "One of them" then MPE will overwrite the whole contact in the phone or Google. I think you have to fix the identical names before

Ok, but even on them that have identical names, I left with a choice.

Keep the version on the phone, or the one in gmail?

Thats possible, but if I want both? How do I do then?

It would be great if one of them could be transfered as another name, like "contact name 2". Then I could merge in your program OR in gmail. But as it is now, I have to choose?

if you rename the contacts in google i think it will not link them together

But that some work to do.

I think you have to fix the program if people should be able to use the sync.

I've tried now, and I have got all my phone contact to gmail, but all that had the same name, Ive lost the email adress and now only got the numbers.

But soon I got a group in gmail with the contacts I want to the phone, and then I can remove all from the phone and force the gmail contacts to the phone.

But its a lot of work... =(
