Forcing COM Ports to open

Hello

Last night the 3 touch sensitive buttons on my k850i stopped working, a very common fault with this phone. The phone is almost useless without these buttons.

I can have the phone replaced on monday but would like to back up one last time with my phone explorer.

When you connect via USB you have to select 'Phone Mode' on the phone itself to open the COM port. Unfortunately this requires the use of the touch sensitive buttons.

Is it possible to force the phone to open its COM ports from the computer? My understanding that it's probably not possible but I thought I'd just put it out there...

Any advice would be appreciated! Thanks in advance.

I know - i have the same problem with a new C902 here. There is only one button dead but without this button its not possible to enter the phone-mode.

I have currently no solution to overide this.

Thanks anyway. I'll have to send it back as is. Would be interested if a solution if ever found.

Cheers

Old thread, but anyway: You can set up the default USB connection behaviour on most SE phones, then you don't need to do anything when you plug in the cable.

Go to the Phone’s Settings – Connectivity – USB – USB Default Mode – and select Phone Mode.
