application doesn't start
when i double click the shortcut of MyPhoneExplorer on my desktop the "loading interface" picture appears but it stays there. I had v1.70 installed and a couple of weeks ago i cleaned my registry with ccleaner and TuneUp and after that i can't launch the application. I tried uninstalling, cleaning the registry again and installing the new 1.71 version but the problem remains...
any help please?

The VB-Runtimes should be installed (but in XP they are already preinstalled). Please try this two patches from microsoft: http://www.fjsoft.at/forum/viewtopic.php?t=14

sorry, i also tried this:
i had kept a backup of the Application Data\MyPhoneExplorer folder
so i took the old general.ini and overwrote the empty file and then changed the line to showsplash=0
no luck, the splash screen doesn't show up of course but still myphoneexplorer doesn't start. It is supposed to be running as i see in task manager (and it uses 50% of my cpu power...) but there's not even the tray icon there...

Exactly 50% ? If you have a Dual-Core-PC then it could mean that MPE needs the whole PCU-Power for its Thread.
You said it happened directly after upgrading to SP3 ? Please take a look at this: http://www.fjsoft.at/forum/viewtopic.php?p=30327#30327
The thing about the accessrules for the registry. The thread was created cause install-problems, but it could be the same reason.

the processor's use is between 48% and 50% and i have a P4 with hyperthreading technology -not dual core- (yes, rather old, but MPE used to run normally)
i tried the thing with the registry you suggested but it doesn't work
no, it has nothing to do with ServicePack 3, i only cleaned the registry because i had uninstalled some applications that i didn't need anymore, and since then it doesn't start. CCleaner and TuneUp utilities found many ActiveX and COM registry errors, so maybe it has to do with this, or any files that were removed with the uninstalation (that's why i asked about the vb runtime)
photoshop doesn't start as well, if this can help, i personally exclude any hardware problem in any case.

OK, download and run this file.
Its a empty application which simply loads all Librarys which are also used from MyPhoneExplorer. May you get a errormessage when starting which shows us where we have to search the problem.

Maybe we are searching in the wrong place.
There is also a known bug in the Windows-Setup which loads the MSI-Installer when MPE starts (FAQ).
Open the taskmanager and be aware if a process named msiexec or similar appears if you start MPE.
Also disable the windows installer service in msconfig and restart your PC (this is only for testing)

yes, i tried, i restarted, but it still hangs.
Moreover, i realised that after installing the 2 VB patches by miscrosoft, explorer.exe started crashing really often... almost everytime i tried to close an application (like winamp)! But now i just disabled the windows Visual Styles (and applied the classic windows style) and it doesn't crash at all. I hope this may help you somehow...
