Connection problems on WinXP 64bit with G700

Hi guys,

I've been using MPE for over 2 years with my K800i and first of all want to thank the author for this great and very usful piece of software.

Recently after death of K800i, I've puchased G700 phone and now trying to sync all data from my Outlook to the phone. I'm using Windows XP 64bit with SP2 and all latest updates, Anycom USB-250 bluetooth adapter and latest Widcomm bluetooth stack provided by Anycom (5.5.0.3900), which officially supports Windows XP 64bit (at least they're claiming that).

I've tried to use USB cable to connect the phone to the PC, but I can't install SE PC Suite, because Windows XP 64bit SP2 is not supported by PC Suite, install script tells me "Unsupported operating system", and SE support hotline tells that my OS is not supported by them.

Ok, I've installed m-Router 3.1.0.42 (the last one I found) as stand-alone install, paired my phone with PC, added "m-Router Connectivity" service and now in "My Bluetooth Places" I see this service connected and COM3 port assigned to it.

On first m-Router start I skipped the wizard and opened settings dialog, here are the screenshots:

BT is not working due to some reasons, maybe m-Router is not supporting Widcomm stack completely. I've removed check near the Bluetooth and added my m-Router port from Widcomm software using "View" button in "Additional COM Ports". Now is looks like that:
http://img379.imageshack.us/my.php?imag ... ed1kx1.png
Connected devices shows me the following:
http://img508.imageshack.us/my.php?imag ... tedmm6.png
m-Router icon in tray is blue indicating that some devices are connected.

Fine, now I'm trying to start MPE (1.7.0, of course), open options, click to "Search for device", MPE checks ports, shows "No devices found" dialog. Ok, now I tried to select COM3 manually in the options, close the options and tried to connect: "Could not open COM3".

Here is the log:

Yeah, COM3 could not be opened, but why?.. Does anyone has any ideas how I can get it working without PC Suite which is not working on my OS?

Thanks in advance for any help ;)

MPE is a bit difficult to set up using Symbian and bluetooth, and not officially supported because of that.
Have you tried this?

I got my P1i working this way.

Well, if there would be possibility to use MPE with my phone over the cable, I'd use it immediately, but until damned SE not supports WinXP 64bit, I have no other choice..

If you mean the post from Pecho, yes, I did, not really helping.. :(

BTW, I tried to just add other COM-ports from bluetooth m-Router just for experiment and found one thing.. If port is not added to MPE, MPE "thinks" for a several seconds when searching for device, but as soon I'm adding port to m-Router, I'm getting error opening COM port in MPE immediately, w/o any visible delay.

Okay, I installed driver from this driver package, two additional COM-port were added in the system. If I'm adding these ports in m-Router in "Additional COM ports", m-Router can't see the phone and MPE can't find the phone. If not adding them to the m-Router, MPE is able to find the phone, able to connect to the phone, but during sync of contacts from the phone, organizer and tasks it shows me following error message telling I must install SE PC Suite:

http://img46.imageshack.us/my.php?image ... imeoy4.png

Contacts from the SIM-card, phone calls and messages can be downloaded without any problems.

Heh, now I can connect the phone, but still unable to sync any data because I can't install SE PC Suite. Is there any possibility to get this Symbian connect runtime without installing PC Suite?

MyPhoneExplorer needs also the Symbian Connect Runtime thats right. Its like mRouter, you cannot get it officially - plase take a look at this: http://www.my-symbian.com/forum/viewtop ... c&start=35

I downloaded some Symbian QI SDK (http://www.newlc.com/Symbian-Connect-QI-SDK.html) and found Symbian Connect Runtime there, so, installed it, reconnected the USB cable with the phone, restarted m-Router, restarted MPE, now MPE tells me "No phone connected to m-Router" and I can't connect the phone to m-Router, adding COM-ports makes no effect. I uninstalled everything, now will try install it again step by step, hopefully it will help..

Well, it's not working. Symbian Connect Runtime is installed, when I'm plugging USB cable in, phone asks me how do I want to use the phone, I'm selecting "Phone mode", but m-Router does not detects the phone.

After spending hours with this piece of shit called mRouter, I finally for MPE working with my phone.

Since mRouter recognized the phone when I tried to connect it using bluetooth and MPE recognized the phone when I connected it using cable I tried to do both at the same time and now it's working. Finally.

Thanks :)

Hmm - the right port is called "SonyEricsson PC-Connect Port" - you should see it in the devicemanager. MyPhoneExplorer has to use the Modemport which is also listed in "Modems" in the devicemanager
