Which Bluetooth stick?

I'm buying a Bluetooth stick for my son's phone. Can you recommend one (or three) for use with MPE (for one phone only so preferably with WIDCOMM)?

Hi,

most important would be the delivered stacksoftware, depending on things you would do with (serial COM-port service is a MUST!).

First choice for me would be a stick with bundled WIDCOMM stack, cause WIDCOMM supports a lot of additional services like audio gateway etc., if you want to connect to PC-speaker or headset.

Bluesoleil's stack would also be a good choice,
MS-Stack is working very stable, but it does not support audio gatway,
Toshiba stack is the last choice, this stack works very unstable (in many cases).

So, if you want to buy a BT-stick, my tip is to have a first look what kind of stack is bundled. Hardware differences aren't so crititcal and most differences are reach distances.

Thanks for the information. The problem is though that it often doesn't say what driver is bundled with the hardware. Hence my request for more specific models. What is clear is that we need something with WIDCOMM anyway.

I know - this is a real problem. If you have a good market maybe the seller knowns about the stack.

Mostly the very cheapest sticks have the Toshiba-Stack. More expensive sticks have Widcomm.

I know the company "Trust" delivers their sticks with Toshiba and i bought also a Belkin-Stick which was delivered with BlueSoleil.

This is getting more complicated than I imagined. Went round to all the shops in our town asking for Bluetooth with WIDCOMM. Nobody knew anything about what stack was supplied. So I phoned and eventually e-mailed Sweden's biggest data company, Dustin. Just got a reply from them. We have nothing with WIDCOMM, but we're looking into it. Maybe in future...
So what to buy, that is indeed the question!

I have this one: D-Link DBT-120
I have buy him a few years ago. He is with widcomm. Maybe the newer modells are also with widcomm?

My new Laptop (Dell) with built-in BT have also Widcomm-Software. You can look, if they have standalone-Sticks for BT with widcomm.

Bad luck for me. It seems like the D-Link DBT-120 is discontinued. Found it on a Swedish site, ordered it and got a reply the day after: 'Sorry, we just sold our last one.' Hmm... What recent purchases have you guys out there made? Any with WIDCOMM stacks? No hurry as my son hasn't decided what phone to buy yet.
