Recurring meetings and exceptions

Why is not exceptions on recurring series supported in MyPhoneExplorer?

If you create a series in Outlook and move one of the instances it is not moved when synced to the phone. This is possible to do using vCalendar EXDATE and new meetings for the exception instances isn't it?

The Exceptions are transfered if you delete a item of a rule. If you move an item then its not possible to transfer this exception to the phone. Its a technically problem cause the backlinking on the next sync would make problems.

I don't see why.

Well first of all I think that when moving one instance of the series at least an EXDATE should be added to the series' vCalendar so I don't see the wrong instance on the phone.

Second of all, sure it is possible to support addition of the exception instances (try out the Sony Ericsson PC Suite for example). I don't say its a simple problem to solve but I see it as a really severe limitation to not being able to rely on your phone calendar...

Now I'm just guessing but the Outlook exception instances should have a Unique ID, right? Is it not just to "map" those to new instances you generate to the phone and keep track of them in a database.

The UID of Outlook Exception is the same as for the original event. I know there are pros and contras and i thought long time to solve it, but i decided to leave it. The biggest problem is that not every user sync always with Outlook. Many users chnage the SyncProvider and there the real problem begins.

I still feel that with such a perfect software that handles almost everything you need to get an efficient phone handling, especially when you work at a company with the "one-phone" philosofy, only using mobile phones even for the internal lines, this limitation results in a lot of frustration. Please try to look into a solution for this since that topic that you "should rely on your phone calendar" is really important when you are a meeting-fan like myself. Have a nice day!
