I've been through an aborted installation of service pack 3 for XP today - couldn't get it to install so I went back to the restore point. Now MPE won't run. I've tried to just re-install - don't work. Tried uninstall and re-install still the same the icon appears briefly in the task bar but then disappears. If I right click on the desktop shortcut and 'run as' I get the MPE splash screen and an error message "Run time error '372': Failed to load control 'PhoneBook' from. Your version may be outdated. Make sure you are using the version of the control that was provided with the application"
Help please I'm absolutely devistated to be without MPE.

I have restored my PC to a resoration point two days before SP3 got anywhere near my PC and MPE is back up and working - in German! - but a reinstall fixed that.
I'm not going anywhere near SP3 again I'd rather have security risks than loose MPE.

MPE runs also with SP3, the errormessage tells that something with the installation went wrong. normally fixable

MPE stay stalled at loading interface and it can be heard the sound of windows error message. I have uninstalled and installed (version 1.6.7) again with the last version but it didn't help. On task manager it runs apparently normal. How can I fix it?

Go to Start-Run-%appdata%\MyPhoneExplorer-OK
- you should find there a file called general.ini
- open the file with Notepad, search for the line "ShowSplash=1" and change it to "ShowSplash=0"
- if you cannot find the line then just add it under "[Main]"
- start MPE again and tell me the errormessage

The file is completly blank. Do I have to add more lines?

OK, then write this into the file:
Its just to disable the splashscreen so that you can see the full errormessage.

Now I see it. The message is:
Run-time error '0'
