w960i + MPE 1.7 - A n00bs Guide Please?

I have it plugged in via USB, and the "PC Suite" installed (latest version). When I go into the options and click "Search" it just tells me my phone isn't recognised :(

Help!

I LOVED MPE on my W810i, I just wish I could get that experience on my new phone :(

The w960i has two options, one for "Fast File Transfer" and one for "Normal Mode" which is for Synching etc. It is in Normal Mode.

(The w960i is symbian btw)

Thanks for all your GREAT work on MPE FJ!

I don't use my phone as a modem, although my PC (Vista x64 Home Premium) doesn't have the phones modem drivers installed.

Please reinstall the drivers for your phone. There must be a modem-port so that MPE can communicate with your phone.

How do I do that? I re-installed the SE suite and then I got the problems :x

- plugin your phone in "Normal mode"
- go to devicemanager and uninstall all items you see for your phone
- unplug the phone
- plugin the phone
- windows should detect now a new device and it should automatically install the drivers again

Ok, first of all heres the error I was getting (after re-installing the SE Suite again).

I tried your method and it installed the drivers for everything but the "CDC Comms Interface" as shown in the screenshot above :x

Please google for "CDC Comms Interface" - you are not alone with this problem and there are also solutions for it.

I've been Google'ing and it seems that in "C:\Program Files\Sony Ericsson\Mobile4\Drivers2" there should the stuff I need in there, but I don't have the "Drives2" sub-directory. Could anyone please attach these files?

PS - Thankyou for your help FJ, it is rare to ever post on a forum for software and have the guy who wrote the thing help, especially with such an unrelated issue! I know this sounds like xxx-kissing but you (and MPE) is the reason why I buy Sony Ericsson and I love the apps so far.

1.5.8, the very latest version off the SE Website.

Hmm - any chance to try it on another PC - to locate the problem better ?

Sorry for taking such a while to respond - my PC has had a few little things wrong, and i've been wanting to change my RAID array (older HDD's being swapped for newer ones etc) and MPE not working (which i've been waiting for for so long) was the final thing that tipped the scales.

Will be wiping, and then re-installing Vista soon and then post back - better work!

EDIT - Just to clarify, what should I and shouldn't I install to get my w960i (Symbian) phone to work in Vista x64?

Obviously I have to install MPE, but do I need to install the Sony Suite? or should I not?
