ive tried downloading the patch that was suggested in a few other threads.
and changed the DEP thing to exclude? MPE? dont know what im doing there.
anyway, anyone know whats wrong with this?
I have a k800i connected via USB on windows XP using v1.6.7

okay, i just realised it has something to do with the SMSArchive.dat file. ugh, and thats the one i wanted to keep. i foolishy did not make any backups. is there anything i can do to salvage this file?

Please make a backup for your Userprofile (just copy the datafolder which contains SMSArchive.dat,...). Then delete the current profile in MyPhoneExplorer (Menu-File-Users-<user>-Delete profile). After that you connect again to your phone and try to sync your messages and organizer.
Did you ever edited the file SMSArchive.dat with other programs then MyPhoneExplorer ?

i tried that. deleted all files, deleted user.
after creating new user, tried to sync messages again, and straight away crashes.
and no, have never tried editted in anyway.
the only way i can open MPE again is if i delete the SMS.dat and SMSArchive.dat files from the folders. otherwise it will crash.

The bug with deleting the user is known and it will be fixed soon. You say you have to delete BOTH files - SMS.dat and SMSArchive.dat that MyPhoneExplorer works. Are you sure ? this would mean that both files are corrupt.

yes, i am very sure of this. i have tried over and over again.
everytime i attempt to sync, it will crash. and i must delete both files before MPE will start up again without crashing.
and i have also noted that when i have tasks saved on my phone and try to sync organiser, the program will also crash, and i must delete both organiser.dat and the tasks over on my phone before i can sync organiser again.

Hä ? I have those Datafile-Problems heart very seldom - and on your PC you have this problem on more than one file ? There musst be something in the system-settings which cause the problem,. Are you working on a chinese PC ? (Hitword: DBCS, Double Byte Character System)

oh, yeah, chinese pc, and i cant even read chinese -_- stupid really.. but i'd used MPE for about 6 months without any trouble.. and then suddenly it happened.
do you know how i can fix this?? =/

Sorry, i have no idea to fix it. I've tried long time ago to make MPE fully "chinese-compatible". I worked about 15 hours on it but then i gave it up. After every fix i got a new problem. You could try v1.5.9

oh, okay. well thanks anyway. its about time for a new computer anyway.
just found it strange as it worked perfectly for a long time, then one day just decided to die on me.

Does v1.5.9 also crash ?
You can turn the DBCS-Mode of if you set your system-charset to english or another non-chinese charset. restart is needed after this change.

oh, okay, wow, v 1.5.9 does not crash!
okay, least i can get to my archives.
doesnt seem to be much difference between the programs to me.
thanks

Thats interesting. Did you ever enabled "Crypt dadafiles on the PC" ?

It's an option in the menu: File-Options-Advanced 2-Encrypt phone data saved on computer.
