In the thunderbird add-in there is an option titled "Set birthday category on import". What exactly does this option do?

ok, this was probably a stupid question. I guess it is used when a birthday is imported from the phone into thunderbird (lightning)
(i only sychronize contacts with thunderbird, my calendars are synchronized with Google, that's why i was a bit confused)
