hello, new here but a regular at esato :)

I've been using MPE since last year for my K750i and now with my new K850i also. I used the program last week to make a backup and even sync my contacts using the program. but now when I turn on MPE and plug the phone in (using phone mode or something, I remember it's the first choice) MPE complains that it can't open COM20. then I reboot the comp and turn on MPE again, it immediately complains that it can't open COM20.

is it caused by SE PC Suite? or is it caused by another program? there are 4 phones that uses this computer, my K750i and K850i, my husband's W800i and Nokia N95. I also have BlueSoleil bluetooth installed.

thanks and hoping to get some help soon.

I wish I can get fluent again in German. I've learnt it for about 5 years+ for school's foreign language requirement, but never used it. anyone's willing to be my free tutor to let me re-learn the language? :D

bitte helfen Sie mich? danke schön. (or something like that? hehehe)

Hi

The SE Suite must be close, when you use MPE, cause the suite can block the COM-Port and MPE can't use it.
You can use all three SE-Phones except the Nokia with MPE. Each Phone had his own profile.

Have you choose the right profile for the phone? (File --> Users)
If so, try File --> settings --> Connections --> search phone.

hi there manitougs, thanks for the speedy reply.

I've closed PC Suite completely. the icon is nowhere near the clock. I even check the background processes (CTRL+ALT+DEL) and turned off some nokia stuff I found. I've checked almost everything running and none of them correspond to SE PC Suite. but MPE still won't work and still gives me the same "can't open COM20" message. I even closed the program and reboot the computer again, turned off some of the running background processes. still the same message.

I'm lost :(

EDIT:

well, DUH! the phone is at port 17. I just do that search for device you mentioned and MPE found the phone, on different COM port.
