Is the new version 1.6.6 a new install ? Will I lose my settings, COM port, sync settings. ..... love the program.

No, you dont loose your settings, when you update MPE.
But you can make a backup from your datas, before you update:
Start --> Run: %appdata% --> OK
Then backup the folder "MyPhoneExplorer".

thanks manitoug, I'll do fine with the MPE backup, using " Start --> Run: %appdata% --> OK " is unchartered territory for me. I'll get my son to explain it to me when back from Uni. MPE is a F*****G great program. I do hope people make a contribution to those who write it.
Tell me, can I make a copy of the "MyPhoneExplorer" installation directory then reinstall MPE into that directory ?

Of shure, you can. But it's senseless. Important is the data-directory.

Just start the setup of the new version and install in the same install-diretory. The new version will overwrite the old one.
