v1.6.6

Have just upgraded from 1.6.4 to v1.6.6 and every time I try to read a file directory, the program crashes. Running Vista and a Sony W810i with a hard cable connection. Do you have v1.6.4 available again please, as this was working just fine?

Please post the logfile after the crash

To allay any issues

Sorry, no logfile - perhaps this is because my Windows directory is on my D drive - maybe this is the problem? Anyway, I tried it on my laptop (XP Pro) with no problem whatsoever. What a great piece of software - much better than Sony could ever manage to replicate :)

Should be no problem, just run the command %appdata%\MyPhoneExplorer\Debug.txt after the crash

Problem on Vista

There is no debug file being created and the message I get is 'MyPhoneExplorer has stopped working'. I have tried several fresh reinstalls and reboots, 'run as admin', etc, and this always occurs. It worked fine on Vista with v1.6.4. Works fine with XP Pro. Cheers /Geoff

First you told me that the crash happens if you try to read the files. Now you say MyPhoneExplorer doesn't start - whats the point ?

FJ, it looks like Geoff's problem is that MPE starts, but at some point goes into a state of "not responding" - the terminology might be different in Vista.

Geoff, is this the case?

Symptoms

von Geoff
MPE starts Ok, and appears to be functional until I select 'Files' and try to read the directory contents. That is when I get the Windows error and the program closes. Hope that helps. Also no log or debug file is created.

There must be somewhere a logfile. What happens if you go to Menu-Files-Settings-Show Logfile ?

Found the log file

There is more if you want - it was in d:/Users/admin/AppData/Roaming/MyPhoneExplorer/

Does the crash happen exactly 3 seconds after you did the last action in the filebrowser ? Can you click throught the files without pausing the 3-second-delay ?

Stops working whatever I try

I have tried browsing the directories immediately, and waiting for up to 30 seconds, and on both occasions the program stops working.

Hmm - its still not clear why the crash happens. Can you take a look at C:\WINDOWS\system32\comctl32.dll - which version does it have ?

dll version

Verfasst: Di 22. Jan 2008, 18:31

Comctl32.dll file version is 5.82.6000.16386

Product version is 6.0.6000.16386

Dated 2 November 2006.

Hmm - this is also the same library i use. Can you test it with v1.5.9 ?

The thing is that i didn't change anything between 1.6.4 and 1.6.6 in the filebrowser (besides the icons)

Tried v1.5.9

Uninstalled v1.6.6 and installed v1.5.9 and same thing happens. Must be something that a Windows update has done - very strange? When I get time I will try a windows repair - but everything else works.

Many thanks /geoff

I did a repair from the boot disk and still the same. Looks like one of those great unsolved............
