I've been using MPE successfully for several years but now, for no apparent reason it just stops partway through Syncing my organiser. Everything else works and I can sync contacts etc.
I'm running MPE 2.3 under Windows 11 on a Lenovo Laptop.

I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling but no change, it still hangs part way through syncing the organiser (Outlook 365) and Samsung Galaxy A51 5G.

Can anybody offer any suggestions?

TIA Keith

1. How many appointments are you referring to?
2. Which calendars are activated under Phone => MPE Client => Settings => Calendars to sync?

Appointments = approx 1200 and growing. (I keep historical data)
Calendars = 3 ('My Calendar' 'Keith's Calendar' & 'Samsung Calendar')

In settings I have tried changing 'Sync Everything' to Sync within a shorter date range, but MPE still stops responding when I try and Sync.

I advise against this! This function deletes all appointments outside the appointment area on the mobile phone and saves no time.

I recommend using only one calendar (My Calendar) if possible.

Even with just 'My Calendar' MPE still stops responding.

If you only have My Calendar activated, you should use the blue arrow button (Download entire). If that works without interruption, then try a sync without Outlook (only MyPhoneExplorer). If that also works, test again with Outlook.

Download entire does work with no interuptions BUT it doesn't download the latest changes made in my Outlook calendar.

Sync using Only MPE works, my phone calendar is updated and photos on phone downloaded to Laptop.

Changing back to try and sync with outlook brings the problem back and MPE freezes.

Thanks for the info. Then I suggest the following:
1. Create a new calendar in Outlook.
2. Under MPE => F2 => Sync => Events and Task / Sync with => Advanced => Outlook folder to synchronize, activate only the new calendar.
3. Force a sync from your phone to Outlook.

Okay, that worked Very Happy
However i lost all the coulor formating from my categories set in Outlook even though my phone uses them.

To try and overcome that, I created another new calendar and copied all my appointments from my original Outlook calendar into the new one then tried to sync from the new calendar to my phone and MPE froze again, so it looks as if I'll have to manually re-categorise everything in my new calendar.

Yes, that's correct. Since Android calendars don't have categories, unfortunately, appointment colors aren't transferred from the phone/MPE to Outlook.

The error lies in the old Outlook calendar.
If we're lucky, it's just one appointment causing problems.
1. Start MPE in debug mode:
Code:
"c:\Program Files (x86)\MyPhoneExplorer\MyPhoneExplorer.exe" debug

2. Sync
3. Open the Debug.txt file (in your MPE database folder) in a text editor. At the end of the file, you'll see which appointment caused MPE to crash. Remove that appointment from Outlook.

Okay, now this is very strange. For some reason there are 117 appointments on 6 December 2036 for HALLOWEEN. There are also 4656 appointments for Halloween on 5 December 2036.

I have no idea why they are there and I have no idea how to delete them all in bulk.

I've managed to delete all the excess entries in Outlook and forced sync Outlook to Phone. It took sometime but eventually all the excess appointments were deleted from my phone. BUT THIS IS THE STRANGE PART - when I ran sync again MPE started to put all the deleted appointments back onto my phone!!!
When I open Calendar in MPE I can only go to November 2035 then MPE stops responding again. Because I can't view Dec 2036 in MPE I can't check if the excess appointments are still there, but I'm assuming they are if they're being copied to my phone.

I don't quite understand that either Confused
Where are your holidays created (Outlook, mobile phone, MPE)?

Holidays seem to be being added by MPE eventhough calculate holidays is unchecked. Outlook does not add holidays, I do that manually.

When I ran sync it completed (?normally) in that under the progress bar I could see all appointments being synced, but then before the progress bar completed I saw 'Checking appointments in this program' that continued for a few seconds then MPE closed down.

I had the idea that if all the excess appointments were still in the user account, the only way I could be sure they had gone was to delete that user then start again as a new user - that seemed to have worked with MPE syncing sucessfully without all the extra enteries (6578 appointments). However what was added to the new user didn't match what is in outlook and resyncing isn't picking up new appointments added.

I decided to add my tablet as another user and that seemed to go well, but there are more discrepancies because in this user there are 10426 enteries (with a lot of duplicate holidays and missing appointments from Outlook)

So now I have two new users in MPE and neither of them match the appointments in Outlook.

Any ideas?

No, MPE definitely doesn't automatically create holiday entries in the calendar. Even with the "Calculate holidays" option enabled, they are only displayed and not saved as appointments, so they aren't synchronized. That means you should find out where your strange holidays are being created. Wink

Could you please describe that in more detail? Otherwise, no one will be able to help you.

It's okay, I decided to start with a blank slate so I uninstalled MPE and ALL data from my laptop, then did the same on my phone and tablet.

After reinstalling MPE on my laptop, I set up my phone as the only user and after adjusting the settings to match what I had previously (Notes/Photos/Files/etc) I ran the first sync of the new install and so far everything seems to be working with the calendars on both Outlook and my phone being identical (as far as I can tell with over 6k appointments in Outlook)

I don't really need a calendar on my tablet so I'm not going to complicate things by installing MPE client on there and setting up a second user in MPE

Hopefully I won't need to trouble you again so thanks for your time and patience.

Thanks for the info.
Actually, I recommend you do the following:
General
For current appointments: MyCalendar <> MPE <> Original Outlook calendar
For older appointments (transfer once a year): Calendar_old <> MPE <> Outlook/Calendar_old

Detailed
1. Create a local calendar "Calendar_Old" on your phone.
Phone => MPE Client => Settings => Manage local calendars
Phone => MPE Client => Settings => Calendars to sync => Deactivate My Calendars (Only "Calendar_Old" should be enabled)
2. Create a new calendar "Calendar_Old" in Outlook
3. Outlook: Move as many old appointments as possible to "Calendar_Old"
4. MPE => F2 => Sync => Events and Tasks / Sync with => Advanced => Outlook folder to sync only "Calendar_old"
5. Phone => MPE Client => Settings => Calendars to sync: Enable only "Calendar_Old".
6. MPE => Organizer => Blue Arrow (Download entire)
7. Force a sync from Outlook to phone
8. Phone => MPE Client => Settings => Calendars to sync => Enable My Calendars + disable "Calendar_Old"
9. MPE => F2 => Sync => Events and Task / Sync with => Advanced => Outlook folder to sync only "original Outlook calendar"
10. MPE => Organizer => Blue Arrow (Download entire)
11. Force a sync from Outlook to phone
Now all old appointments in MyCalendar on the phone should be deleted.
