I have a very strange behaviour of my phone.
My phone has no wifi / no bluetooth on. Only data from cellular network. There are no allowed incoming connection on my wifi network.
When I start the MPE client on PC (or try to connect), my phone awakes, MPE client tries to connect to phone, but as there is no possible network link, says sorry and stops trying to connect. After a few seconds, my phone goes back to sleep.
The "phone awakes" - "client tries to connect" is a reproducible behaviour.
How can the phone be awaken by the MPE client as there is no network between the two devices (no BT / no Wifi/ only cellular data on the phone) ?
I tested my phone behaviour when the MPE server is not running. Nothing happens when trying to connect.
How can this magic be explained ? |

Yes, that's correct. This behavior is due to a push notification from Google, which allows the client to be launched on demand.
Unfortunately, this is no longer possible over Wi-Fi since Android 8.
If you don't want this, you can disable this function via a tweak:
Open the general.ini file using a text editor and add the following content under [MAIN]: line | Code: | | LocalConnectionEstablishment=1 |
The general.ini file is located in your MPE database folder.
You can find the MPE database folder as follows:
If you haven't changed the default path:
- Windows Start menu (Run) => enter %appdata%\myphoneexplorer
otherwise
- see MPE => F2 => Advanced 2 => Database
Open [Database]\MyPhoneExplorer |

As I said, WIFI is off, data is on.
This means that our dear friend G. is able to target my phone on celullar data when I try to connect over my LAN to my phone (unable to answer because not on LAN).
So when I thought I would avoid Mountain View, I find that they know that I want to connect to my phone via adb over wifi, and also is able to send a push notification to my phone, so he knows which device I am trying to connect to.
I'm puzzled. They go deeper in my life than I thought.
I will now try your tweak.
BTW : great job you do.

I think there's a misunderstanding here. Our program deliberately uses this Google push notification, and it's also requested by most users. Anyone who doesn't want this and can do without the MPE client starting automatically should, as already mentioned, disable the Google push notification. |

Thank you again for your answers.
Now that I have the magic line, I use it, I disabled the push notification. |
