BUG: UTF-8 contacts editor

Hello,

I have contacts with UTF-8 encoding.
MPE displays them correctly in the list of contacts.

However, on the 'Edit Contact' dialog, such names appear scrambled!
I.e.: ?a?a???t??

Being a developer myself, should be easy to enable Unicode on that dialog ;)

You think you can fix that? Thanks

PS: Great software! Keep it up

Its not so easy as you think. There are no free Unicode-Controls avaiable for VB. The only tip i can give you to set the correct system-charset on your PC.

Wow, fast reply!

Oh, no, I thought this would be easy :(
I would like to help, but VB is not my language...

Also, while I'm at it, on the create backup, it would be very useful if the default filename that appears is something like '<user>_2007_11_07.mpb'

Thanks a lot

Great, thanks!

Should I be looking forward for Unicode?

If you want you can look for it, but i also searched for it. Either it is not free or it is too buggy to use it in MyPhoneExplorer.

Hey FJ, hey all,

When the ő and ű characters change to o and u, is it also because of the Unicode issue?

Thanks,
mch

The characters change while typing into the textbox ? Or after the sync ?

If I enter the appointment in MPE, it gets saved as o and u in MPE, and it gets synced as o and u to the phone.

Which system-charset you have set on your System ?

Yep, that was the problem. I changed it to Hungarian and now it's all good. Thanks for the help, FJ!

Keep up the good work, MPE is the greatest!
