notications not going away

I'm running mpe v2.10 on a samsung galaxy S8.
when a task is due it notifies me on the home screen. in the past I've always been able to tap on the task and then tap ok and the task goes away. but now when I tap ok the task stays there - its stuck on my home screen. how do I fix this?
