Hello,
When creating an Android phone backup in MPE I get the following error message:
\external\.android_secure could not be downloaded !
OBEX Errorcode: C4-Not Found
Other than that, the backup creation appears to proceed successfully. I'm not sure how to interpret this, but it appears that MPE is unable to find a file or folder on my micro-SD card (i.e., the external storage) that's supposed to be there.
Any advice would be appreciated. Can I just ignore this, or is the backup unreliable because of this error ?
Thanks in Advance ! |

Can you access this folder using the function Files?
If not:
In external.android_secure are the apps you moved to the external hard drive, then MPE probably won't have access to them. |

Thanks for your message. The .android_secure folder in the external storage is empty. Could that be the problem ? MPE expects to find something in this folder but doesn't. |

No, I don't think that's the cause of the error message.
Once again...

Thanks again, and sorry for not answering correctly. Yes, I can access the .android_secure folder using "Files", and it is empty.
When I look in the backup created by MPE there is no .android_secure folder, consistent with the fact that MPE says that it couldn't find this folder on the phone when backing up. Not sure where to go from here. |

The correct thing is that empty folders are not transferred, this has never been the case.
However, with Android 13 there are also problems accessing the AndroidData + Androidobb folders.
This is only after installing MPE-Nightly and via USB possible.
Otherwise please contact FJ via Mail directly with a link to this thread=> Impressum |

Thanks again for the reply. If I understand correctly, the .android_secure folder shouldn't be backed up because it's empty. That makes sense. I'm back to thinking that's what MPE meant to say when it said it couldn't find the folder.
I suppose that, as a test, I could add some sort of dummy file to the .android_secure folder and then see if the "error" persists.
BTW, my phone is about 5 years old and uses Android 8. Yes, I know it's ancient, but it still does everything that I need, and I like having a user-replaceable battery. Might the old Android version be a factor here ? |

The .android_secure on my S8 is not a folder, but a (system) file.
I only have full access to this file with the in-house file manager.
Workaround for you if you haven't moved any apps to the SD card:
Rename or delete file before backup |
