Good question Very Happy

Because otherwise the data will be managed internally by Cardbook and then the problems you describe will occur reproducible !

OK. Now working corrrectly! Sorry for all the hassles but never saw that the database "file" option HAD to be used. Did I miss that somewhere?

But another question, regarding photo resolutions. I have asked this previously but it seems that CB down-sizes photos to 314x314 - roughly the same as Outlook. I've not seen a 'maximum resolution' anywhere but have seen indications that vCard can support 'high' resolutions so was hoping to use better photos than I could with Outlook. The CB forum seems to have a distinct lack of activity so thought I'd ask here. Not seen a vCard spec. that specifies a 'resolution' either.

Any comments?

No, I didn't know that until now either.
I've already informed FJ of the problem.

No, this reduction (640X640) is caused by MyPhoneExplorer, but the original size is retained in the CardBook file

Hmmm. It seems that CB does keep the resolution the same for contact photos. However MPE stores them at 314x314 - at least by default. I see the 'Image Wizard' can set them to be a max. of 700x700 - not sure if that will then be the default or not ...? But ..... that's the resolution that MPE uses. Is this the resolution sent to the phone, no matter what is in CB? And if there is a larger resolution photo on the phone, is this set to 314x314 when sent back to CB?

Thanks.

1. Cardbook maintains the resolution
2. CardBook => MPE max. 640 x 640
3. MPE new => 640 x 640 (Standard)
over the Wizzard 700 x 700 possible
4. Phone => MPE max. 720 x 720

So using MPE to sync Cardbook > phone would cause a 1200x1200 photo in CB to be down-sized to 640x640 on the phone? Just to confirm that MPE would "convert" whatever was on the phone or in Cardbook to 640x640?

If it does convert would there be any way of just transferring the photo without a resolution change?

Yes, almost right Rolling Eyes
CardBook => MPE max. 640 x 640
Phone => MPE max. 720 x 720

That's a shame. With storage not an issue these days, nor bandwidth across the PC to phone link, it'd be nice to be able to have high resolution contact photos, or at least not have to worry about what the resolution is.

And any reason for using vCard 3 against vCard 4?

Sorry about all the questions .... Smile

I don't understand why you have to worry about the resolution (640x640) of contact photos.
The problem isn't storage space, it's sync transfer time.

Any reason for using vCard 4 for you?
