I have just purchased a Motorola Moto9 Play

I am using MPE 1.8.15

I am using Windows 10 on the Laptop

I have been syncing with another mobile for years no issue

On the new moto9
A bit odd, contacts syncs fine. As does the task list as part of the calendar sync. I can get a new appointment in the Calendar to sync with Outlook. If I change the appointment in outlook, again it changes in the MPE on the laptop but not in the mobile

It shows all the appointments in MPE on the laptop but nothing in calendar on the mobile. Seems it is not updating Calendar in the phone. No error messages.

Any suggestions?

I would really appreciate a response.

Am I the only person having this issue?

Is it that the Ne Calendar app is attached to the gmail calendar and connot sync with phone?

Struggling

On the phone check MPE settings: 'Calendar to sync' and 'Add new events to'.

On the PC check MPE settings: File > Settings > Sync > Events and tasks ..... and check 'Sync with' (Outlook!) and the 'Advanced' settings for which calendar folders to sync etc.

Thank you for responding, Dave

I have checke the settings you suggest. I had checked them against my old settings.

MPE on the PC is the same for both phones.

The only thing I changed was the sync events in the given time range, as I am experienced enough to know it woul take a long time between syncs to see why its not working

The MPE on the phone does concern me.
On my old phone I have version 1.0.74 and in 'Calendars to sync' and 'add new events to' there is a phone option.

On my new phone I have version 1.0.80 and in 'Calendars to sync' and 'add new events to' there is a NO phone option, only the email option.

I note in Play Store people have said the same as me - Brian H said problems syncing but not quite my issue.

When I sync - just sync calendar using sync button in Calendar view
The first sync clears all the appointments in MPE, I abort or it would clear them in Outlook. I then sync again and it adds 230 ish new apointments to phone. They all apear in MPE but nothing in the phone.

Hope that helps

Howard

Have you set your calendar app to display the same calendar that you are sync'ing to? I have a My Calendar option on my phone (Android 10 on a Galaxy Note 9) but I believe I used MPE to create this (can't quite remember ....) - so that calendar events stayed local to me.

Thanks Dave

looks like your clock is out - no, its recording German time - 1 hour ahead

I spent about 10 hours yesterday trying to find a solution. I used 3 other Apps but they were all rubbish compared to the sophistication of MPE.

2 of them created a dummy email address in contacts to make it work. They did sync but it was messy and not reliable.

I have played with all the settings and my message this morning had the most imortant element in it. No 'phone' in 'calendars to display'

I have gone through the pain this morning of installing a previous App to my new android 11 phone - that was fun. I installed the MPE Client verion 1.0.74 on my new mobile and there is no 'phone' database option to display. So, the new Calendar has changed.

I finally logged into the email I have used to register the mobile. I only use it for registration. It is the only account I have on the phone. I had 2 further accounts created by the other Apps but have deleted them. I have also cleared the Calendar App data so it is blank again.

The first thing I checked was the MPE Client and no 'phone' option to display. I had played with the same setting in the Calendar App 'calendars to display' When I turned the other created emails off all their data disappeared from the Calendar. There is no 'mobile' option like there is in the earlier version

Finally, I signed into my google email, on my PC, the one that was registered to the phone. I added an appointment and it was imediately in the mobile calendar.

Conclusion
Calendar version 2021.35.3-395935710-release and just updated to 2021.37.1-399144959-release. No change to Sync sadly.
This Calendar does not have a local database 'phone' as it did in previous versions. This is the issue.
Also when Synchronising - MPE seems to read both the phone and Outlook data. It seems it cannot write to the mobile. I am assuming this is something that needs fixing.

I think the point you make about My Calendar is the issue. The Motorola version of Calendar has removed the local Calendar option, it seems, and therefore MPE Client cannot see it. I have selected my account email in Calendars to sync.

Dave

Its a big alleluyah and run round the flat moment with 'get in'

Well, we were homing in on the issue. I didn't realise that MPE Client could create a local Calendar. I had no issue with the contacts as there was already a local contacts account - 'phone'!! Use the setting 'manage local calendars'

That suggests that MPE Client created that account when installed?

I could not find a good how to do things section? A set up page or Youtube clip would be very helpful - obviously focussed on new users.
It is ok if you are a techy because you will play but for many it is a great tool they may fail to enjoy.

I maintain, it is a great tool if you want to sync your calendar and contacts with your mobile and you prefer it private and not in the cloud. It has lots of great features.

Right, update MPE Client and check it still works. Then get all the calendar to sync. Just did 7 days before and 14 days after today. Another great option not available in the other tools I tried.

Thank you for your pointers Dave, much appreciated.

Kind regards
Howard

Just setup a spare phone and tried this to ensure I remembered how it worked. You need to go into that setting and explicitly add a new calendar (at least running LineageOS 18.1 on a Galaxy S4) - and give it a name. Then you can choose it in 'calendars to sync' etc.

Google actually don't want you to keep things 'local' so they don't really provide local accounts to use (and don't mention their sh!t5 sdcard support!!). I just used to sync with a Goole account AFTER I'd turned off the 'auto account sync'. This still seems to work for contacts but I found that calendar information still gets to the cloud which is why I swappped to the 'local calendar' option.

Glad you sorted things!
