MPE 1.8.15 Brings Up 2nd Instance When Syncing Contacts

Good afternoon!
I recently upgraded to MPE 1.8.15 (from MPE 1.8.12). Now, whenever I sync Contacts with Thunderbird, synchronization proceeds OK, but while it's going on, MPE brings up a second instance of itself on top of the running instance. The new instance is unable to do anything, apparently because the connection is in use by the first instance, so I just close the second one and continue. This happens consistently whether syncing contacts only or syncing them as part of Multi-Sync.
This is more of an annoyance than anything else, but it is still an annoyance
I'm running Thunderbird 60.8.0 on Windows 7.
Has anyone else experienced this? Does anyone have any idea what might be causing this? I appreciate any insight(s) anyone might be able to provide.
