I'm moving to a Nokia 5.3, and having difficulties with synchronization on Windows 10. As with previous phones, my strong preference is to sync directly between the phone and the computer and not go through Google.
I've established that I can get to the phone from the computer for browsing, with the Windows Explorer, and I was successful in copying my apps and calendar and contact data, with a backup on the old phone and a restore to the new phone. And I have no problems with browsing the phone's file system from the Windows Explorer, whether connected with Wi-Fi, Bluetooth or USB. I also confirm that I can use F6 for remote control/screen mirroring, with a USB connection
However, when I try to synchronize, I'm not getting updates to my calendar and my contacts. As far as I can tell, I've used the same configuration of calendars that I've used on the old phone, but changes to events and contacts are not passing, in either direction.
Is there some config setting I'm missing (and if so, how do I find it), or is it that this phone isn't compatible with MyPhoneExplorer? |

On further consideration, I realized that the problem was likely that the the phone and the computer weren't seeing each other's data in expected locations.
I went back to the settings and found that the locations for Contacts, Events and Notes were all set at the default, for "only MPE", which is what I've been using previously. When I reset those to "Outlook", all the data is turning up correctly, although I did have to spend an hour or so reviewing my calendar, and removing bunches of duplicate events.
But otherwise, things are working as I want. |
