I used to not delete any messages i received on my Sony-Ericsson w810i... this lasted a few weeks and my inbox was almost full. This was when i installed MPE to archive all my messages to pc, so i could then delete them.

I archived them to pc, then deleted them all from my phone. No problems here, thought the program was great.

Now, however, i keep receiving the message 'sms memory over 95% full' (or something similar even when i have fewer than 50 messages on my phone in total - including drafts, inbox, outbox, sent items, templates... everything. Below is a screenshot of what MPE shows in 'memory':

Image

Here it shows that MPE does not detect my SMS memory as being near-full. So it leads me to the conclusion that either:

a) My phone hasn't realised MPE has deleted all the messages i had saved

b) MPE hasnt actually deleted the files... just removed parts identifiable to the phone, leaving behind some memory consuming parts?

c) Problem with the phone, unconnected with MPE

d) your suggestions?

N.B. Note that i do not know where the sms files are actually stored on the phone... although there is plenty of room on my memory card, if it has something to do with how that is partitioned or allocated to different areas it would be nice to know Very Happy

This has been bugging me for a few weeks now Sad I could store more messages on my old 8mb nokia than i can on my 32mb SE with 512mb Card Sad

Help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the link. I know it makes me a bad person for not searching first.

But in that thread there is a lot more problems than solutions... this still seems to be an unresolved problem...

phone has been restarted many times, i have deleted all from my phone many times... which leaves master reset. which is pretty inconvenient to say the least.

Hy

- Its a known bug of some Series from SonyEricsson (the old series)
- You'll have this problem with EVERY PC-Software which can access the SMS Memory (FMA, MobileMaster, other Payware)
- There is no perfect solution for this, the thread which was linked is only a small part of the whole discussion. I talked with many people in a big german forum.
- Some known fixes which helps MAYBE:
• Send some SMS to your phone and delete it then (with the phone keypad)
• Restarting the Phone - IMPORTANT: Remove the Accu for two minutes
• If the message is still shown after a few days: Master-Reset
