Install or not?

I've been using MPE for years but about a year ago switched to Messages for my default messaging app on the phone because MPE could not deal with MMS messages. Not only would it not receive them on the computer running Win7 Pro x64, but also on the phone, so I simply wouldn't get any MMS messages at all. E.g., if someone sent me a message with a photo I wouldn't get it.
Furthermore, I became weary of MPE's on-again, off-again ability to connect--which I could deal with in a variety of ways but made using it a hassle. All that said, I still hung with MPE because of its ability to sync Outlook (Contacts, Calendar, and Notes), which I found invaluable. I've just built a new computer (Win10 Pro x64) and have resisted installing MPE again but miss the sync ability. Since Win10 has the ability to sync messages, even MMS, I can use it for messaging.
Is there a way to completely turn off the messaging function of MPE and retain ony the ability to sync Outlook? If so, I will install it on this new machine. Otherwise, if I can't be assured it won't affect Win10's ability to deal with messages I may pass and live without syncing Outlook.
Would like to hear advice on this.
