Hi,
I use MPE 1.8.12, MPE client 1.0.48 and W7.
I usually saved my sms with previous release of MPE but suddenly, without particular manipulation, the SMS are not more displayed in the SW and the file SMSArchive.dat does not exist anymore. I looked to the debug file and I can read this :
  • 12:50:49.05 ThumbnailOffset=5104 ThumbnailByteCount=30982 (Stream=65529 Bytes)
    12:50:49.84 ThumbnailOffset=5104 ThumbnailByteCount=48415 (Stream=65529 Bytes)
    12:50:59.41 GetThumbnailOffset fehlgeschlagen
    12:51:37.88 ThumbnailOffset=5104 ThumbnailByteCount=20068 (Stream=65529 Bytes)
12:51:38.08 EXIF LoadStream failed (Stream=14994 Bytes)
    12:51:38.10 ThumbnailOffset=758 ThumbnailByteCount=40879 (Stream=80523 Bytes)
12:51:39.15 EXIF LoadStream failed (Stream=14994 Bytes)
and so on, until the end of the file...

does it mean that I lost all the SMS archived ?
I hesitate to copy a SMSArchive file from a previous install because I wouldn't like to lose the SMS on my phone.

What can I do to recover a safe install and all the sms archived ?
Thank you for your help.

regards.
Dominique

If SMSArchive.dat is gone, you have to look for a backup of the file or full backup in a .mbp file.

You can overwrite the file when MPE is not running. It should display the contents of the new file when restarted.

Or you may manually create a new profile:

1) With MPE closed, create a new profile folder in the directory where your general.ini file resides, and name it e.g. "Temp [123456789012345]

2) Copy yoour old files into it dat

3) Start MPE and you should see the new profile on the lower left

4) After selecting the new profile, you should be able to see the data in the old files
