Signal private messenger

Hello everybody,
As I don't use Whatsapp for privacy reasons I'm thinking about installing Signal private messenger. I use MPE for saving text messages (SMS) on my pc and for having a backup of my contacts. So before I install Signal I'd like to know if I can save my messages with Signal too. I read this topic

started January 26. I understand that the encryption of Signal poses a problem but saanspeer seems to be able to see the messages in the internal storage and open them. So does that mean that they can be exported to the pc like the text messages? I don't have a problem with them not being in the Conversations section like saanspeer seems to have, if I understood correctly.
Could you please shed some more light on this for me? Thanks!
