Calendar events not appearing on Android 9 (Pixel3)

I was using Win10 x64 1809, Outlook 2016, MPE 1.8.7, Pixel3/Android9. The phone doesn't have a "Local calendar" (that I used on my previous phone with Android 5) or I can't find a way to make it appear - the only calendar present is labeled "myemail@gmail.com". I have disabled synchronization with Google cloud.

I did sync from Outlook->Phone, Contacts are OK, but Calendar on the phone is still empty. Tried to deselect/select "Events", "Reminders" on the phone. Tried "closing" Calendar app and opening again. Tried restarting phone. Still empty.

MPE itself got all events from Outlook. If I create an event in MPE or in the phone, then it syncs to Outlook. If I delete an event in MPE, Outlook, phone, then it syncs in the other direction. But events created in Outlook don't appear on the phone. I assume they ARE actually recorded somewhere (first I assumed in not-visible-anymore "Local calendar", but in MPE there is only one Calendar choice: myemail@gmail.com, same as in the phone).

Then I installed MPE 1.8.11 - clicked sync, but there is nothing to sync (e.g. it thinks all events are already in the phone).

It seems that between Android 5 (of my previous phone where I had "local calendar") and 9 Google changed where events are stored and/or what's displayed in their apps...

Any advice on how to make Calendar to sync & show properly is highly appreciated!

There will be posts/threads on this forum that say that this change occurred. Can't remember when so you'll have to 'search'. That search should also reveal that MPE can now create a local calendar (look in the settings for mpe on your phone).

But I just use the gmail account to sync Outlook too. As long as 'accounts sync' is turned off then nothing gets to the 'cloud' so you're fine.

Thank you, dvhttn! Creating a local calendar from inside the MPE app was the solution for me.
