How to View and MPB File without Connecting Phone

How do you view an .MPB file without the phone connected?
I don't have the phone backed up any longer, but want to review the information I backed up for a previous phone from a few years back as there are some files I would like to extract.
offline use of mdp data

I have the same need as sharky
open _.mpb on the pc, without a telephone

...answer, day ago, but I had no answer. It is very useful to be able to edit the phone book on the PC, without having to connect the phone via USB
