MPE disappeared after installing latest version

Hi,
I just went to sync phone with PC (Windows 10, 64-bit,fully updated) and got a message there was a new version of MPE (1.8.
so I downloaded and installed it. The old shortcuts to open it wouldn't work, so I deleted them. Now I cannot find MPE anywhere on the computer - I searched Programs and Programs 86, it's not listed in Control Panel, Programs and Features - just disappeared - presumably along with all my previous backups. What do I do now please?

PS This is the first problem I've ever had with MPE in many years of use (and yes, I have made a contribution!)
