I've had this issue for a long time. What happens is this: new messages show in bold in the MPE window until read as thy're supposed to and regular font once read (after remaining open for a few seconds). The problem is that some messages keep reverting to the unread status time and time again. This is usually after disconnecting the phone pairing (via WiFi), but doesn't seem to follow any particular pattern. I thought it was only messages treated as Spam by the True Messenger app on my phone, but it's not. I wanted to include a screen shot, but I can't see any facility to do this.
I also thought it was something to do with misconnections (phone doesn't always pair corectly first time), but there's no particular pattern here either. |

You need to do a Sync to get the read/unread flag sent to the phone.
If you read the message on the computer and don´t sync, how should the phone know you´ve read the message? |

Thanks Koelner.
I thought a sync was only necessary to update changes made since the last connection. Surely, when connected, changes get reflected as they're made, don't they? When I send or receive a message or make a call, the changes are updated as they happen. Why is reading a message any different?
Although Ihaven't been aware of any need to manually sync after reading messages, I'm pretty sure this isn't the solution because most 'read' messages do get synced across without an issue and stay in the correct status - it's just a few that keep getting reset to 'unread' even after a sync.
It appears that the only way to keep the 'problem' messages 'read' is to read them on the phone app (then sync) - this does cure the problem, but isn't really a fix as it has to be done for each 'problem' message. The whole point of using MPE is to not have to go to the phone.
I'll monitor this - now I know it's necessary to manually sync to update the read status of messages. |
