Contacts with two first or last names not synching properly

Beitrag von OzRob »

I have some contacts that have either two first names, such as Mary Jo Star, or surnames like Jim Lo Russo. When I try to synch with Outlook XP it does not recognise the contacts between the phone and Outlook to be the same and wants to create duplicates on both the phone and Outlook. If I let it synchronise and then manually delete one (on either the phone, Outlook or both) it still wants to create duplicates.

It looks like MPE is treating anything in the name fields separated by a space as two separate (yet identical) entries.

Is this a bug or am I doing something wrong. I've only just started using this great app, so I'm a noob.

Thanks for any help.

Hy

Can you send me one of the problematic contacts as Outlook-msg-File via mail ?

Thank you for the mail, but i couldn't open the attachment. Maybe it would be better to send me the file in the *.vcf-Format.

Anyway i tried to reproduce the bug on my W880i and on my K700i. I added a new contact in Outlook with first name "Bob Jason" and the lastname "Lastname Test". It worked without problems. Do you remember how the conflict-entrys where saved in the phone ? Especially how first and lastname was saved.

The contacts were created in Outlook XP. First name and last name were entered separately into the appropriate fields in the "Check Full Name" dialog box.

I initially used SE phone tools to synch to a new SE w810i which had no contacts. This added all the contacts into the phone. I was using the SE tools for a few weeks then recently switched over to MPE. The problem occured when I first tried to synch contacts between the phone, MPE and Outlook.

To get everything in sych I've now deleted all contacts in the phone and then synched using MPE. All contacts now synch as they should. I need to go through the same process on my laptop, so I let you know if I have the same problem with it.
